Convert units

Type an amount once and see it in every other unit of the same kind. Cups, spoons and fluid ounces are US measures, as defined by the US standards body, NIST.[1] Weight and volume can’t be converted into each other without knowing the ingredient, so they are kept apart.

Fit a recipe to your pan

Knafeh is cooked in a thin layer, so a bigger pan needs more of everything to keep the same thickness. This compares the base area of the two pans and tells you how much to multiply each ingredient by. Every recipe on this site also has this built in, next to its ingredients.

    Syrup

The registered recipe for Antakya künefe makes its syrup from about 60% sugar and 40% water, with a few drops of lemon juice per litre to stop crystals forming.[2] Start from that, or set your own sugar percentage. Water weighs about 1 gram per millilitre, so you can measure it either way.
